How Bows and Ties Came into Existence?
It took the bow tie decades before becoming one of the essentials of men's formal wardrobe during the 1880s. It is when the Victoria era men were fond of speaking ethically and casual fashion was limited to the pants and rounded shirts. However, if you doubt, we have come forward leaving the history of bow tie behind, you are absolutely right.

Bow-tie first originated from the wardrobe of Croatian soldiers who actively participated in the famous Thirty Years' War during the 17th century. Basically, serving as mercenaries, Croatian men used to wrap the scarf around the neck to hold together the open shirts.

Once the French soldiers noticed the nontraditional method to hold the open shirts together, they quickly adopted it while modifying it and naming it '' Cravat''. This may have been stylized by the French troops but the French citizens especially the elite class was inspired by the exceptional element forcing them to adopt the fashion on a greater level.

Soon, cravat would be considered a symbol of richness and men belonging to the upper class would use it in high-level events. Started by Croatian mercenaries and modified by the French troops, cravat served the civilians more than armed men at the borders.

For another couple of centuries, cravat would remain an integral part of the upper-class clothing style allowing them to be recognized very easily. Soon, cravat had to go through a trans formative phase where its design will be updated, its name will be changed and its use will expand to the general people from the middle class.

All thanks to Pierre Lollard who designed the modern bow-tie, a successor to the cravat, which is still serving the fashionistas for more than a century. Things may have changed quite a bit in the last few decades, but a bow-tie serves the need for a formal outfit more than any other fashion element.

When the Industrial Revolution took the world by storm and literally shaped our planet into a powerhouse of energy, resources and wealth, men like Piere Lorillard were well-focused at breaking the traditions by designing something extraordinary.

After the tobacco manufacturer was done designing the bow-tie, he decided to give it a try by attending The Autumn Ball at the Tuxedo club located in Tuxedo Park where the wealthy attendees admired the man for his exceptional tuxedo attire and it soon became a trend to follow among the upper class.

But just like the trend of cravat was adopted by the middle class in the 19th century, bow-tie also experienced the same with the middle class adding it to their closets for formal events after the end of the First World War. Years have passed, trends have come and go, bow-tie has gone through numerous upgrades and comes in many forms today.
